Helping You Change Your Life

Reaching out to ask for help is difficult; we get that. Our aim is to create a space where you are able to express yourself honestly, work through your challenges, and grow as human beings. Our focus is on helping you to uncover the patterns of thought, feelings, and behaviour that are holding you back. We take great pride in having the opportunity to support you to change your lives for the better.

We provide individual, couple, and family therapy in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs for all ages and stages of life. From new parents, to teens, to those in the twilight years of their life, we’ve got you covered. We believe that people do not exist in isolation and recognise the importance of relationships.

Therapy is often viewed as selfish but working on yourself is one of the best things you can do, not only for yourself, but for the important people in your life too. Reach out now to find out more about how we can help you live the life you want.

About Calum

Having always been interested in helping people, Calum is passionate about mental health, personal growth, and development. Calum holds a wealth of experience, from over a decade of experience across private and public mental health settings.

He is experienced in working with a wide range of presentations including: Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Relationship difficulties, Grief and Loss and trained in a variety of modes of working including Schema Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Family Systems Theory. Calum believes that no individual is the same and through years of experience he has developed an integrative approach, utilising relevant elements of different models, to provide a tailored approach for each unique human he meets.

Calum does not believe in looking at people as ‘problems to be solved’, but as human beings who are stuck in patterns that are not serving them. His approach in therapy is to help people to identify these patterns and to consider how we could begin to do something differently. Calum appreciates the importance of our relationships to emotional wellbeing and this is an area of interest and expertise for him. For those wanting better relationships – Calum can certainly help.

Calum is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and can provide Medicare rebates to clients who have a Mental Health Treatment Plan through their GP, he also works with various Private Health Funds, and is an approved Victims Services Provider.

How we can help

01
Individual Counselling
Are you feeling stuck, hopeless, or anxious. Are you finding relationships difficult, not knowing what direction to take in life, or struggling to manage your emotions? We can all get stuck in patterns of behaviour, thought, and emotion that hold us back. The ‘good life’ is a process, not a destination, individual therapy can guide you through that process.
02
Family Therapy
What’s more important, the flower, or the soil that it grows in. If you are finding your family relationships tense or just not getting on as well as you would like, if you are consistently ending up in arguments, or feeling you don’t know how to help or connect with a family member, family therapy might be for you. If you are a new parent and would like some support with life’s biggest adventure, we are here to help.
03
Nature Based Therapy
We recognise that the 'Therapy Room' does not suit everyone & that there are real psychological benefits to connecting with nature. In conjunction with traditional therapy, we offer nature-based therapy sessions, which include outdoor sessions at chosen locations.
04
Mind & Body Connection

Holistic Wellbeing

Here at Stoa, we recognise that Mind and Body are connected, and we aim to support you as a whole. We offer 'reset' packages for those in need, to address your physical and mental health side by side. We work closely with experienced and trusted colleagues to that ensure we are meeting your health needs as a whole.
05
Professional Supervision & Training

Professional Supervision

Calum has extensive experience of offering professional, clinical supervision and workshops to a range of professionals. Please contact us for a discussion to see whether he could be of assistance.

Couples Counselling

Couples Counselling

Often, the people that we love can create the biggest emotions within us. If you keep having the same conflicts, or you just can't seem to get along with your loved one, and you're feeling stuck and don't know where to turn, we are here to support you to get clear on a way forward.

Most people, don't lead their lives, they accept their lives

Calum truly believes in people’s capacity to take control of their lives for the better. Sometimes, it can be hard to see the way, we feel stuck, powerless to do anything.

Slowing things down in therapy can help us to get clearer about the pathway forward, help us to refocus on the changes we can make, and figure out the steps we need to get there.
